Who is the Shabbaton for?

  • This Shabbaton is open to students of all kinds. Including undergraduates, graduate students, students returning from gap year programs, and recent college graduates. Additionally, incoming first year students over the age of 18 are also welcome.

  • If you are:

    • Passionate about being Jewish

    • Interested in meeting like-minded students from across the country

    • Committed to building strong traditional-egalitarian Jewish campus communities

    • Excited about gaining leadership and community building skills to bring to your communities

    • Enthusiastic about learning from professionals and experts in the Jewish world

 

Do I need to be Conservative to participate?

  • The mission of Masorti on Campus is to provide for the needs of the traditional-egalitarian Jewish campus communities. However, you do not need to be Conservative to participate. The primary purpose of this Shabbaton is to bring together college students who are passionate about building Jewish communities. It also gives the opportunity to fill a void some individuals feel by providing learning opportunities for college students who want these resources.

 

What level of learning can I expect?

  • The learning opportunities at the Shabbaton will be accessible to students of a wide range of Jewish backgrounds and no prior knowledge in a multitude of Jewish topics is required. Most of the learning will be about you and will glean from Jewish texts to provide guidance and explanations on the issues we will be discussing.

How much does the Shabbaton cost?

  • The Shabbaton cost is approximately $100.

 

What does my money cover?

  • The cost of the Shabbaton covers food, lodging, bedding, and other programming materials.

How do we travel to the Shabbaton?

  • More information will be provided in the future based on the location of the Shabbaton.

 

What should I pack?

  • Clothing  

    • Shabbat outfits for Friday night and Saturday

      • Possible options: Dress pants/slacks, button down or polo, dress, skirt, etc.

    • Saturday evening

      • Casual clothing  

    • General clothing

      • Shirts (long sleeves, short sleeves)

      • Jeans/Sweatpants

      • Underwear and Socks

      • Shoes and Sneakers

      • Pajamas

  • Toiletries: Shampoo, Conditioner, Toothbrush with case, Toothpaste, Deodorant, Hairbrush, Contact Lenses/Glasses, Kippot, Tallit, Tefillin, etc.

What is the food situation? / Will the food be Kosher?

  • All meals and snacks provided at the Shabbaton will be Kosher.
